(Critical Thinking Skill) How do you deal with homophobic people when you are in public?

I mean a regular person just walking down the street, and suddenly you see people walking by and you start hearing some stuff you really don`t want to about your culture what would you do?

For example: looking at you like a sex offender or a child predator or like making disrespectful comments or just by their facial expressions.

If you don`t want to say anything but by using body language how do you tell people to knock it off?
OR
If you want to say or do something without using body language.
AND How do you deal with homophobic family members when you are either in public or at home?
