After having an internal exam (to check for dilation and effacement) how long is it normal to spot? TMI?

At my 37 week prenatal she did an internal and I spotted pink for about an hour, only showed on toilet paper. The next day I lost globs of my mucus plug (it was about 4" long, thin like your pinky finger, clear but stained with pink and red)

Yesterday at my 38 week prenatal she did an internal and again I was prepared for spotting, but instead of it lasting only an hour or two, its still happening. Brown stringy spotting. Is it okay to last 24 Hours?

Wondering if maybe its me losing my mucus plug more like last week... only this time its brown. (Lost a glob about the same 4" and thickness, but it was brown) and I'm just losing little globs now? Is that a possibility?
