Family X-Mas parties - I hate talking of sports - I like philisophical ?s. How do I engage in convo?

I don't care about TDs, punts, plays, who should or should have won! so boring.I want intelligent conversation but NOONE in the family is capable. Not even about modern day news can anyone hold a conversation. I don't care about their kids or their meaningless jobs, lives or keeping up with the Jones' , I am not that important nor is my career. How do I change the conversation or engage in something meaningful with a bunch of mental midgets during the holdiays? please help.
