    Mathematically similar solids? Wow they havent mentioned any more?
    anyway volumes will be in the ratios of cubes of a dimension. say x^3/y^3 = 27/125.
    => x/y = (27/125)^(1/3) = 3/5.
    Surface areas will be in ratios of squares.
    Area1/Area2 = x^2/y^2 = 3^2/5^2 = 9/25.
    But its given that Area1 = 36 so
    Area2= 36*25/9 = 100cm^2

    Volume is a cubed measurement so a if you cube root the ratio of volume you will get the ratio of the lengths.
    Then if you want to get the area ( which is a square relationship) just square each side of the ratio

    So 27:125 for volume relates to 3: 5 for length. so then for the area the ratio is 9:25
    so if the smaller area is 36 then all you need to do is 36/9 = 4 and then 4x25 = 100
    so the answer is 100cm2.
