I,m wondering , would you still buy a Ducati if it had a 4 cylinder ?
Personaly I like the screaming from a 4 cylinder more than the low rumbel of a Ducati , I,ve bought a Ducati for it,s looks and handling

I'd buy it.
Not if it was an inline. A L-4 maybe.
Trey
Screaming four cylinders are fun but I definitely prefer the sound of the Duc. It kinda makes me think of the engines of WWII aircraft.
My buddy has a Triumph Daytona 675 and it's a blast to ride, I admit it. Not nearly as much torque of course, and I loooove torque, but it can really scream and it's so refined that you can barely feel the chug of the engine. Almost feels like an electric motor.
I've heard that about the triples, the triumph is a triple right?
I started with inline 4's and must say I still like the sound of a wound up 4 but I don't think I'll be going back to them. I've been smitten by the Ducks.
Depends if they lost all the character that goes along with the bike. I have little doubt that Ducati will have to do something to compete over the long term with the way horsepower keeps increasing but it seems like they can get the power out of the twin so who knows....
Yeah the Daytona is a triple. I've ridden the 4's as well, not a ton of time in the saddle though. I had the Daytona for a few months because I bought it and sold it to my buddy, because down here in TX it's 15% cheaper than in Canada.
I agree , to get more power they need more stroke,s per minute i.o.w the rev,s must go up , the only way to do this is to use a shorter stroke and less weight of the pistons/conrods and crank etc.
I,m thinking of making my 848 with one silencer like the honda CBR1000RR to get the pitch up.
NO - unless it was the 16RR
But I am an old school traditionalist. Apart from GP derived 4 cylinders e.g. the 16RR, Ducati will NEVER make a inline 4 cylinder bike.
It would simply be sacrilegious to Ducati and most Ducatisti.
