perihelion was January 4th, so the Earth is closer to the Sun.
I think I can see the difference, but I have been doing the Astronomy thing for 40 years.

The Moon is one day short of Full Moon, so is almost as bright as it gets. It's also near perigee (closest part of orbit to Earth), but that doesn't have a significant effect.
It is because it is almost full Moon and the other thing is that the moon it at its closest distance to Earth and it is called "perigee Moon".
