I first bought Orphans, then Rain Dogs much later. Checked out Alice and didn't care much for it. Regardless, Last.FM claims he's my #7 most listened to artists with 544 plays. So yes, I'm a fan, and I do plan to check out swordfishtrorabones..... eventually.

Took me a while to get used to his voice, but when I did, it was all smooth sailing. Sorry Scarlett Johanson, you can't compare.

Here is a bad cell phone quality picture of my Tom Waits Vinyl Collection:

Closing Time, The Heart of Saturday Night, Nighthawks at the Diner, Small Change, Foreign Affairs, Blue Valentine, Heartattack and Vine, One From the Heart [with Crystal ***le], and Swordfishtrorabones.

I really need to find a coy of Rain Dogs, it seems to be Tom Waits' most popular album.

Edit: G ay is censored? Really? That's pretty ridiculous.

mmmm, it doesn't but only because of the periffery.

BM was released with Alice, and so its a split album. Blood Money is amazing and has some brilliant tracks* (listed below) but its a one sided album. Alice got more of the flavor, BM got all the evil. Real Gone is, because of its nature, a more full album.

Thats not to detract from BM, its just to say that their different concepts. You're probably in an area where the musical culture lenRAB itself to Blood Money more.

For example Blood Money is more metal than actual metal banRAB, so if thats what you're in to, you wouldn't mind picking it up.

Well, being the popular artist that he is I imagine there was probably some other thread on him at some point but the search option proved unuseful, 'less I'm just a technophobic moron.

Anyway. I've started listening to Swordfishtrorabones lately after finding a very dusty CD jewel case round my mum's dating way back to the 80s. I don't think I really as of yet understand the album, its motivations, its aims and so on, so would be good to see peoples' takes on it and stuff. Find out a thing or two about it through the experiences of others.

I think Blue Valentine is one of his best.

I never understood the love for SFT.
