yeah i suppose but it's still only on a minority of their tracks. i know at this point alternative rock has little to no meaning but back in their day Jane's fit that bill to a T. Stephen Perkins is too much of a monster drummer on those albums to settle into the pocket and while Avery is a phenomenal bass player capable of cutting deep grooves they just don't feel funky to me.
when i dug out that clip for 'nobody's weird like me' last night i also found a bunch of rhythm lessons hosted by Chad Smith with Flea on the side to fill things out. they dissect what a funky rhythm section is all about and while those two guys can slip into a funky groove smoother than water comes out of a tap at the drop of a hat, Jane's never got that funky. they could get people to free their minRAB and bob their heaRAB but they could never get their asses to follow the way the Peppers did.
i can't think of more than 4 Jane's tunes that i'd call funk metal. stop / been caught stealing / idiot's rule / standing in the shower thinking, hardly enough to categorize the band especially when they've got superior songs in different styles.
I can't argue with you. For example being a terrible lyricist....at least give me a shred of proof or example to back up your opinion...
yes he is a genius.
dude what kind of drugs are taking?
At any rate, I think John would be getting a lot more attention if he'd been making solo albbums long before he joined RHCP seeings how they are slowly becoming a tad bit overrated. or rather their latest albums aren't too great as everyone claims they are.
The song that hooked me when I was younger was 'Can't Stop'. Then I bought the Greatest Hits CD and couldn't get enough of songs like 'Suck My Kiss' and 'Higher Ground' and dug deeper...
The last great thing this band did was Aeroplane. I can't stand anything else they've done after that.
they sound unique, i've listened to them since i was rlly small, my favourites
all around the world,
purple stain,
scar tissue,
under the bridge,
Is this a rhetorical question?
[QUOTE=boo boo;645806]I get picked on a lot because I don't display a "don't f*ck with me" persona like some other moRAB do.
I can take being the butt of peoples jokes, because I'm used to it and I tend to play along. But I don't accept direct insults from anybody, and if you intimidate me enough you will certainly regret doing so. So yeah you had your fun, but you've already annoyed Corey with it so you need to cut it out.
Look man, I know i probably went a bit OTT its sound It doesnt really matter whether u were a male or female in first place , were here to talk about music after all.
Stop being a smart arse, I was banned from this site from a week and it didnt change anything. I will always speak my mind.
I liked it. They keep changing directions. This album has a bit more of a relaxing tone to it. Puts me to sleep. In a good way.
Hardly a relaxing album. Half the songs are wild. By The Way is probably best for sittin back.
