Okay, so the equation was
Cu(SO4) (aq) + Zn (s) --> Zn(SO4) (aq) + Cu (s)
Then I did.
Cu +2 (aq) + SO4 -2 (aq) + Zn +2 (s) ---> Zn +2 (s) + SO4 -2 (aq) + Cu +2 (aq)
Which of course is wrong because when you cross things out you end up with nothing. But I don't know why? Evidently, Cu is supposed to be (s) on the right side of the equation and Zn is supposed to be (aq). Can someone please explain why this is? I have a test tomorrow!
