    1997 Honda Accord mechanic problems?

I have a 1997 Honda Accord, 2.2 regular motor, automatic transmission, what can cause the car to stop from switching gears after a while of driving it (The car won't go forward or back, and the motor would stay on), and then work again after the car has being turn off for a while??? I changed the oxygen sensor, the vehicle speed sensor, the solenoids and had the transmission fluid changed!!! Also, the car won't overheat either.

It sounds like the trransmssion is shot but there are some adjustments which must be correct.

It sounds like the Transmission Control Unit is dying. They are not a terribly high failure rate item but they still have been known to conk out. What is missing from the description is a flashing D (or D4) lamp. If you are not getting the flashing lamp I recommend getting a TCU from a wrecking yard. Pull-it-yourself yards are cheapest, but even an over the counter yard should sell one for under $100. Replacement is an easy DIY job.
