    what is an unlocked phone?

    An unlocked phone means a device which is free from network restriction. An unlocked phone can be used with any GSM SIM card whereas a locked phone can be used only with the network to which it has been locked to.
    There are various ways to unlock an iPhone. The safest and easiest way among all is to unlock using remote unlocking service.
