PlayStation 4 officially launched in Australia overnight, and retailers have reaffirmed that stock levels will be low in the lead up to Christmas.
That's according to Sony Computer Entertainment Australia Managing Director Michael Ephraim, who says retail has advised him of low stock levels for the rest of 2013.

Zoom"I've never seen demand like we are seeing now with PlayStation 4," Ephraim said in a statement.
"Even though we are getting more PS4 consoles in before Christmas, our retail partners tell us that they don't expect many to be left on the shelves by the time Christmas comes."
Ephraim said Sony intends to replenish stock, though indicates that this may not be possible until the new year.
"We will continue to supply the demand, starting in January and every subsequent month until we satisfy Australia's appetite for PS4. In the meantime, we thank our fans for their patience - we promise PS4 is worth the wait."
Ephraim's comments mirror similar reports following the Xbox One's launch last week. A spokesperson for retailer EB Games said "demand for the console looks like it will outstrip supply in a few days".
'Thousands' of customers lined up before midnight last night for the official Australian launch of PS4. It retails for $549.95.
In CVG's review of the PS4 launch unit, we said "it shouldn't come as a surprise, but games on PS4 look absolutely enthralling."
