Family Guy - "Road to the Multiverse" - Talkback [9/27]

Please. It's a show with a lot of offensive humor.
Jabs at races, religion, gender, sexuality, etc. should be expected and there is a number of people (myself included) that enjoy offensive humor especially if it can go to far and that joke didn't even go to far.

Nothing to make a big deal about and besides it's only a short bit and as another member pointed out it's not even making fun of modern day Japan.

As far as Family Guy jokes go, I actually found it to be rather tame.

But it's not race or stereotypes. It's an idea of what Meg might do in an ancient culture, and it's probably pretty accurate, because ancient cultures were pretty extreme.

Family Guy has done racial jokes that I don't feel comfortable about (even though they're obviously not a staff of racist writers), but this isn't one of them.

The Japanese universe seems to acknowledge half the show's criticism.

And now the weirdness begins. Let's see if it can keep up the steam.

Oh my god, the dog version of Peter made me laugh so hard!

Family Guy - "Road to the Multiverse" - Talkback [9/27]

I almost never watch Family Guy, for the record. I saw a preview for tonight's episode and decided to take a look. And I found that the show is as childish as ever, relying on offense for its humor (as opposed to true edginess - I doubt Seth even knows what that is), but at least tonight's ep was highly creative. So I can't say I'm sorry I watched it, but I don't plan to become a regular viewer. What offends me in this instance is not sexual content, vulgar language, etc., it's the use of an egregious lie for a laugh. A true wit would lambast the lie, the stereotype, and all who embrace it, which is what South Park does so well. And that is what edginess means. But lest I get embroiled into a South-Park-vs-Family-Guy debate, I'm exiting this thread. And I mean no offense to those who like Family Guy; I respect your choice even though I don't share it.

And it was kinda cool to find out that Brian's a Labrador retriever. I always assumed he was a beagle.

You aren't, in fact I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw the episode. When I 1st saw Human Brian, I said "He looks like a grown up Ferb!" It's gotta be the nose!

BTW, if anyone has a pic of sexy Meg, I'd like to see it. I missed that part.
