    garth nix. you have probably never heard of him, but he's australian and writes AMAZING fantasy novels. the keys to the kingdom series is probably the best, but the old kingdom trilogy is also very good. they are a little weird and very very fantastical, usually quite complicated with lots of different characters and sub-plots, and some of the characters takes a while to understand, as not all of them are human or anything we can relate to. but they are good.

    My favorite author is Darren Shan. He's not really famous, but awesomeness in it's every literal meaning.

    She's a really great writer and not many people know much about her. Her Inkheart Trilogy is probably almost just as good as Harry Potter. (However Harry Potter will always win =D)
    It's really interesting and has a really great plot. A person who can read people in and out of stories at will while reading.
