    Canada = 51st state?

    Yea, it makes sense. The country with the biggest and best military will become a part of Canada, a country with a horrendous military. The US, with 300 million people, will become a part of Canada, a country with a population of 30 million. The US stock market, which basically impacts the economies of every country in the world, will become owned by Canada, a socialist country. Canada and its socialized health care system, whereby citizens often are left waiting months for surgery, will then become a part of the US. Why would anyone want anything to do with Canada?

    Canada = 51st state?

    Well the education, GDP, debt, inflation, etc stats I got were from www.canadastat.ca, Canada's census bureau, www.census.gov (the US Census Bureau), and the CIA World Factbook. I think they are all pretty highly credible sources. The US may have a higher crime rate, but other than that we pretty much dominate everything else.

    Your opening sentence fits the bill.

    Your name calling in previous posts was edited out by admin so I can't cut and paste it for you. I'm sure you were warned regarding your etiquette by admin if they went to the trouble to edit your post.

    You've now proven to me that you are not mature enough to handle a debate as an adult.

    I will no longer be responding to your posts. :xbye:

    Canada = 51st state?

    I own a home on the North side of Mpls. That is most likely meaningless to you. But to put it clearly - I am in da'hood. My house is cute and most of my neighbors are honest, working class people. However, as is the case in most urban centers, there is a gang problem (Crips, BlooRAB, Disciples). There are plenty of sleezy folk about. They come through the yard, leave trash in the yard, have peeked in my windows to see if I got anything worth stealing, they have fights and deal drugs out on the street. It's certainly aggravating as I don't want their mess in my yard or them around at all bringing my property value down.

    However, I have no inclination to shoot them. I don't own a gun. I do not allow guns in my house (unless you wear it for work - cops, etc.). I do not want somebody else's death on my hanRAB. The only thing about my property I would consider killing for is the lives of the individuals housed within - namely me and my kid.

    When necesary, I simply call 911. Vigalantism is just as destrcutive as crime.

    Face it pal. Illegals on private proerty isn't even your problem - and you want these people shot. You are just gun-happy, cowboy.

    (For the record I am not for more gun control. I simply don't want them around me and that's my choice, at least on my property. If you are a law-abiding person who went through the proper procedure to own your guns, have a field day.)

    I wonder how many people actually have private property up against the border? Maybe some effort should be made for the government to take over that land and compensate the ranchers, that way they don't have to deal with the problem. I don't think it is likely that illegal immigration is gonne be resolved anytime soon.

    This topic really had me thinking last night. That you and I have so much more in common with that illegal than we bother to realize. Once upon a time our ancestors came here looking for the very same thing most illegals are coming here for. Opportunity. We used to be a land for those who wanted something different, wanted a voice, and wanted a chance. But we are slowly becoming that which our ancestors left, and we are rarely led by anyone who has any idea about us. Think about it. What do uber-rich and priveleged Kerry or Bush really know about real people in the US? It's become such smoke and mirrors.

    The real problem behind illegal immigration is extreme poverty and corrupt people in government (both sides of the border) and in business taking advantage of that situation. The side effects of that is burden on the US tax-payer, making it so easy for these abusers to turn us little people against each other. Jorge and Maria come looking for opportunity really aren't the problem. They are a symptom.

    Advice noted, and just as quickly forgotten.

    You're obviously confusing me with another poster. I haven't commented on the USA's problems with illegal immigrants, nor do I intend to.

    Just wait another 10 years, canada will be able to buy America from the Japanese. No money down and easy payment terms.

    Canada = 51st state?

    Did you COMPLETELY miss the part where I mentioned that my fiance was not allowed a non-immigrant visa?

    Maybe I should take you on a tour of a Maquiladora plant and it's shanties. These are US owned companies that are operating against US and Mexican labor and environmental laws. Where is all the outrage about obeying the law? So if a US company comes in a drops a penny here and there in Mexico - they don't have to obey laws - only Mexicans have to do that? Is that what you are saying?

    By the way - I am not talking about resorts. I am talking about factory wages that pay practically nothing. I am talking places OSHA would have shut down before walking in the door.

    The Maquiladora plants and barely human treatment at the border of those who are doing things legally.

    Well me and my best friend both had optional surgery this year. She waited no longer than I did - a couple of weeks.

    And I love the silo thinking Americans have. That bad things can never happen to them and when they happen to othersit's because they are lazy and deserve it and therefore no safety net is needed.

    Not entirely true. At the very least they are paying sales taxes. And any working with false papers will be paying income tax, too.

    Oh, and demonizing and stereotyping is unimaginative and stupid. You really expect everyone to come at things with the understanding of your perspective? It's not like you can do the wild leap into theirs. Yes - they should obey the laws and come legally, but your ranting and shooting is just as short-sighted and destructive as their law-breaking to get in.
