Great movie. The best since Shrek 2. I mean, yeah, Kung Fu Panda was great too but this movie succeeded better as an adventure film than Panda did.

I really think the father/son relationship and the relationship Hiccup has with Toothless are interesting. Astrid is cool, but it was kind of like with Aladdin.
Hiccup: "Ahhhhh, ahh , aahh , ahhh, aahhh... shimmeringly, shiningly splenda! Tell me Viking Lady, when did you last get me my coffee?"
Astrid: "Unbelievable frights... indescrible kill-err, I mean, FEELINGS!"
"I can open your eyes... take you wonder by wonder. So, come on, Astrid. When did you last let your heart decide? A whole new WORLD. A dazzling place we never knew. But when we're on a dragon, whose spinning us around and around, it's crystal clear. That now we're in a whole new world... uh, yeah!"
:anime:
The reason this does NOT work is because they attack the dragon before it's killed.
I saw the movie and I loved it. I almost cried at the end.:anime:
True. But note that those who only fought were the ones that have already humans in their side. Those who don't fled.
I also really like how the bullying was downplayed.
how cool would that be if they had a love song in the movie ? ...
I guess they could've also done that in Hercules .. but Pegs had other things in mind.. I bet toothless was the same way
Honestly, I'd rather that they didn't have any songs in this movie.
I mean, I have nothing against musical numbers because I'm a music guy myself, but when it comes to a movie like How to Train Your Dragon, I honestly don't think it's necessary to have any music numbers in there.
HTTYD is great just the way it is and as much as I like musical numbers, I think it would spoil this film.
Any movie that can have an ending like...
...the hero getting dismembered...
...and have it as a believable happy-end without even a trace of bittersweet is a winner in my book. IMO, that was very well-played. Heck, poetic even, since the movie pretty much begins with...
...Hiccup crippling Toothless.
So now they depend on each other. Very sweet way for a pet movie to end.
Dang, can I type freely yet? It's been a weekend.
Also, I can see why it was so heavily compared to Lilo and Stitch by the critics. Though, instead of a doglike alien, we now have a catlike dragon. I was in stitches when Toothless did the "butt wiggle". Don't even get me started on the "catnip". :narf:
This is the talkback thread for "How to Train Your Dragon": Slap It Hard on the Nose
Maxie Zeus thinks it's the best DreamWorks movie yet...although that really isn't saying much considering what he's thought of the others...
