    Re cineworld : IS THIS LEGAL

    I think all cinemas are getting stringent with the checks on food and belongings. Odeon have done this to me a few times. If there is a nearby cinema with a shopping centre attached to it, go there. They never question you as you're bound to have bags on you. It's not really fair, but I guess its the way they make money off us.

    Re cineworld : IS THIS LEGAL

    I can't really see how they'd get themselves into a right can of worms, uness you are suggesting either;

    1. They're doing it just to cause you trouble and that means they might take it too far and start spiking drinks, or,

    2. You could spike your own drink afterwarRAB and blame it on them, getting Cineworld into BIG trouble.

    Beyond that, I can't really see how spiking drinks would come in to it.

    As far as taking water in, of course they can stop you. They can deny entry for no reason at all, so long as you haven't already paid.

    However, if you are an unlimited card holder, I think they'd have a hard time holding it up in court. Taking in a coke is one thing - as they can claim you are unfairly using their facilities and affecting their business - but a bottle of water is likely to be laughed out the courtroom. Fresh water might not be a right under the law, but most consider it an essential, as opposed to a luxury item.

    Re cineworld : IS THIS LEGAL

    Just looked at a Dixon's receipt for a SD card. Can't see it on there either.

    If you put your terms and conditions in the most inaccessible place possible (hardly something that anyone should be proud of), it would be unlikely that the store would have got away with it, if challenged.

    If a store (or any other business for that matter) tries to pull a fast one, with terms of business, I will always challenge them on it.

    You can drive over the speed limit and get away with it for thirty years - that doesn't make you right when/if you get caught....

    I think you'll find "but I've always done it" wouldn't help your case very much

    Ok, they shouldn't have been rude but that's really a seperate issue.

    All I can say is that by imposing this rule suggests that they know they are ripping us off and are quite happy about it. If they were confident of the quality and price of their products, then they would not have to check people's bags.

    Do you feel satisfied, if not how about taking legal action? or are you happy just to let this case finally rest.

    I would let this go now... honestly... it's been a fortnight. You're getting seriously wound up about something they really won't give a shit about.

    You would be fully entitled to a refund. It would be their decision to refuse entry and therefore they will not be fulfilling their part of the contract.
