Friend gave me camera, but i dunno how to get it's video on computer. Vegas pro says that it failed communication, please dismiss this message and cycle the power.it is tame camera btw. And i use dv port.

I agree with Iridflare... And that's great that you are using the camcorder's DV port. We are also assuming that you are using a firewire cable (not USB) to connect the camcorder's DV port (not USB) to the computer's firewire port (not USB).
DV-to-USB cable/adapter/converter things do not work.
Do you get the same error message with MovieMaker? How about WinDV?
And I *think* you are saying it is a tape camcorder... The Panasonic NV-GS180 is the PAL variant of a miniDV (digital) tape based camcorder...
