help is appreciated! thanks!? hey, so i have to build a motor due in two weeks for grade 11 physics.

My plan is to use a battery (1.5 V) which is attached to a switch, which has 2 wires connected to it. The end of the 2 wires are stripped which then become the brushes. The brushes are connected to a commutator, which is then connected to some thin wire stuff (which acts as the armature). There are magnets and the end result is that the armature spins when the switch is turned on, and stops when the switch is turned off.

What kind of wire should i use for the part that is connected to the switch and battery? Is electrical copper wire alright?

What can I make the commutator out of? Is it a metal lid of some sort and if yes then where can I buy it??

Thank you so much!
