Thread: Honda Accord over heated and dealer doesn’t know why?

About a year ago I was stuck in very slow traffic going about 5 miles an hour for close to 20 minutes. I looked at the gauge and it was on HOT (all the way up). I turned the heater on as hot as it could go with the fan blowing at max and it cooled down right away, I pulled over and lifted the hood no water was leaking, the temp had dropped to normal on the gauge. When I took it to the dealership they found nothing wrong, they said the compression tested fine and it did not over heat for them. Its almost been a year but yesterday I found myself in the same situation, I turned on he heater and the gauge went right down. Any idea what could be the problem?

i think its the radiator fan that did not turn on. next time it gets like that open the hood right away and have a look.
