Why would anyone do that? You don't know who that information will be given to. Just don't do it.

It seems pretty easy for the person answering the phone to just take my info..
I dont have a problem with it. Its not much different then giving your credit card to a server to charge your bill. If you're not comfortable with it, pay cash. Thats why they have options. =]
if u r ordering take out then u shud just pay cash...but it's ok if it is a big restaurant chain, like outback or red lobster someplace that has workers trained because it is a part of a big compnay..they wud lose too much if they had someone stealing info like tht!
There are hundreds of chances for someone to take your numbers. The fact is - people have to process those cards by hand in the restaurants and stores. It would be ridiculous to single out the person who takes your CC number for food you are ordering, as somehow being dishonest.
You give your card to your waiter and they disappear with it when they go to the register and come back with the reciept - are you going to follow them too?
And why limit it to just the card - they have an electronic record of your card number (it doesn't appear on your receipt, though) so they could just as easily take it there.
If you are that paranoid - don't use credit cards.
