Try reading Charline Harris' series about Sookie Stackhouse. They even based a show called True Blood about her books, and it happens to be my ultimate favourite show.

The next is the L.J Smith series. I read a couple of books by her and they are all amazing. Honestly, I enjoyed reading her books and they are all as long as the Twilight series (Meaning it's a thick volume...) I recommend borrowing the three books in one version as opposed to the single version, it's much better.

Also the Anne Rice series. It has been mentioned before, but I strongly recommend reading those. Anne Rice pretty much inspired a lot of people to write about vampires, and she's seriously my fav writer.

    Hope I helped!

Edit: They're making a tv series called The Vampire Diaries about the L.J Smith series to be aired in 2010 I think, because I saw a few promo pictures, and the cast is Nina Dobrey from Degrassi, Paul Wesley from 24, and Ian Somerhalder from Lost... Sounds pretty cool.

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
-I truly thought that I was claimed to Edward cullen character but then I discovered Jace Wayland. Clary, Sixteen years old goes clubbing with her best friend, Simon, she sees a good-looking boy just kill another boy and realizes that she in the only person that can see them. She soon is thrown into the shadow hunter world and discovers that her life has been built on lies and is torn between love and family secrets. I honestly absolutely love these series, it’s engaging, the characters are hilarious and the twists are wicked!
This is quote from stephenie meyer reviewing this book series
“A story world I love to live in†and "Dear Edward and Jacob: I adore you both. But I'm spending the weekend with Jace. Sorry! Love, Stephenie"

It's then followed by City of Ashes and City of Glass

    uglies by scott westerfeld
"ugly until age 16 when they'll undergo an operation that will change them into pleasure-seeking "pretties." Society making everyone look the same, cause we all wanted perfection now we have it but I still isn’t good enough? Loving someone for WHO they are and not what they look like"

Midnighters : The Secret Hour by scott westerfeld
Nobody is safe in the secret hour.
Strange things happen at midnight in the town of Bixby, Oklahoma.
    Time freezes.
    Nobody moves.
For one secret hour each night, the town belongs to the dark creatures that haunt the shadows. Only a small group of people know about the secret hour -- only they are free to move about the midnight time.

dark lover by j.r. ward ( The blackdagger brotherhood Series)
it's different to all the other vampire book, it is a adult romance as it has some descriptive scenes"
"In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there's a deadly turf war going on between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret band of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Yet none of them relishes killing more than Wrath, the leader of The Black Dagger Brotherhood but fate brings beth into his life as he must usher the beautiful female into the world of the undead.."

I know the perfect series. It's by Ellen Hopkins. The titles of her books are Crank, Burned, Impulse, Glass, and Identical. They are pretty serious, and interesting. The follow the lives of teens who deal with tough issues. They are written almost in a poem style in that the pages are in verses. They don't necessarily rhyme, but it is such a cool concept. I'll warn u though, because they range from 300-400 pages. but, it is sooooo worth it. Good luck.
