Oscar Wilde is a good choice. Very controversial because he was arrested for indecency when really he was just gay. Virginia Woolf is another good one but probably pretty popular. Also, if you can do poets, John Keats would be an interesting choice. His love affair with Fanny Brawne is documented in a movie called, "Bright Star". It's out now at many Independent theatres and coule be a unique resource for you. Of course, you'd have to make sure you do some fact checking on the movie if you decide to go that route. Good luck and have fun with it! There are so many great authors to choose from.

Truman Capote is an interesting author (:
He wrote a book about a village murder that happened in the U.S back in 1959, he has gone to Kansas and researched about the murder and interviewed the murderers before getting into a supposed sexual relationship with one of the murderers, the book is called ''In Cold Blood'' and is based on the family murder and how he tries to portray Perry, a murderer, innocent in the novel

Another author is Mary Shelly, shes a good author to write about because she was one of the first feminist authors to write a Gothic novel ''Frankenstein'' The way the book had been developed is really interesting as well.

Out of those two i'd still choose Truman Capote because he's got a real mysterious personality in my opinion? =]
