I'm in the mood for a debate, can any one argue the fact of a young earth?

with scientific evidence!? scientific being the keyword, please, no pseudoscience.

just to add, I'm arguing for an old earth, old universe, big bang , evolution, and maybe even abiogenesis. so come on people, show me what you got.

    Something to consider...

Most people argue for their position using data to support their position. You might consider taking the data put forth by the other side and, if possible, point out the impossibility of the implications the data perscribes. For instance,

For the age of the Earth to be brief ALL evidence for a old Earth would have to be false. Any single accepted evidence for and old Earth would invalidate a young Earth.

Let us look at a single example of an old Earth: The river valleys of the central US and the Mississippi delta.

    Science:
The Delta was formed over millions of years of slow moving water that carved out the river valleys and deposited the sand and silt at the mouth of the Mississippi river.

    Young Earth Creationists:
The river valleys and the delta were created in a very short time (a few hundred years) by the very, very fast runoff of Noah's flood.

Problems for the Young Earth Creationists:
Even very, very fast running water could not carve out the deep river valleys that exist in the central US. To the extent they could, the very, very fast running water would create river valleys that would be very straight rather than very curved, as they actually are. Fast running water cannot turn sharp corners. Fast running water to carve the river valleys AND meandering river valleys – Impossible.

Secondly, the very, very fast running water would sweep the sand and silt far out into the Caribbean. The Mississippi delta would be comprised mostly of large rocks and boulders. But that is not the actual case. Core samples from the delta confirm that the delta is made up entirely of fine sand and silt all the way down to bedrock. What the Young Earth Creationists propose is absolutely impossible.

    The Young Earth Creationists counter:
With the current sand and silt load the Mississippi river carries - if it had flowed for millions of years the entire Caribbean would be filled up with sand and silt.

    Science answers:
The current sand and silt load occurs because the entire interior of the US is presently being plowed and farmed. The soil is plowed yearly which causes the Mississippi to have an abnormally high sand and silt load. Over the past millions of years that has not been the case. For almost all of that time period the river has had much, much less sand and silt in its water. It is disingenuous of Young Earth Creationists to select recent, favorable facts and misuse them to try and mislead people.

This is just one of thousands of possible sets of data that can be shown to prove an ancient Earth.
