If you don't fully understand that regardless of what global warming is called, perhaps when you see polar bears with gills you will come to understand that the polar ice caps have "suddenly" vanished. But so will the polar bears. I just visited Alaska last summer from the time I was there 25 years ago. I've seen schools of yellow tuna that are so discombobulated because of unusually warm waters near the southeastern peninsula of Alaskan waters. There are two glaciers in the process of a 20-mile retreat. Rainfall has replaced winter snowfall by several feet per year and it is not a seasonal or even decade-long process. This is a location that seasonally receives both 200 inches of rain and 200 inches of snowfall. Instead of blizzards there is massive flooding. In Antarctica, icebergs the size of Rhode Island are breaking apart from the mainland. Huge rift lines are growing which indicates proof of global warming. Then there is depletion of the protective ozone layer, mostly over the western hemisphere. But then again, if nothing that the world's scientists have posted, published, and spoken of convinces you then it is obvious this answer will not. It isn't a matter of just "saving face." That's a simplistic, caveman approach to the most critical issue facing our planet. It is your choice to believe this or not.
Global Warming is part of Global Climate Change. This has been scientifically proven and known before 1998 even. It would have been better if the media always used the scientific term, but the concept has remained consistent.
