How can two fish tanks survive off of 1 filter?

I have 2 10 gallon tanks, i am going to make one a main tank and one a hospital tank, i do not have time or money to buy another filter right now, how can i make the 2 tanks run off of 1 filter?

Well you can wait until you have money for the medical tank, surely your fish won't need to use it while your saving up. So just keep the filter in the main tank for now. Please do not listen to people saying this and that on how cruel it's to keep two goldfish in a 10 gallon tank. They would prefer living in their than the pet shop tank wouldn't they?.

What is the point on running a quarantine/hospital tank and the main tank on the same filter? If you transferred a diseased fish to the quarantine tank it would be absolutely pointless as diseases can be spread through water from tank to tank.

The only way you can do this is by buying two separate filters, if you don't have the time or cash for another filter then only stick with one tank.
