Bah! You know what I mean.
Bah! You know what I mean.
Also shows ITV can still put a decent show together when they try,
Now if only ITV could get back to the quality of the dramas they did in the 1970's
He's lovely and was in Married, Single Other recently.
Haven't seen a thread for it, so here goes.....
Brilliant beginning we had the old Granada board
Loving it so far and it's just started!
Nice to see Tina Fowler! (barmaid from 1989)
I remember Tony Warren always said he spent the first episode in the toilet thowing up, refusing to come out cos he was so nervous! lol
Doris Speed agreeing to 'ageing' to play 52, was funny. She lied about her age, of course. She was the same age as Vi Carson so she was already 60 in 1960! lol
James Roache has more of a look of his mother than his Dad, (he's got his mother's eyes) but done up as as very young Ken you can certainly see he's his son.
a telling statement
I thoroughly enjoyed this - shame it didn't get a bigger audience. I think it would have done pretty well on ITV, if only for the quality casting and the Corrie association, but it fitted well with BBC4's collection of biographical dramas about national icons. Jessie Wallace was wonderful, and I thought it was a masterstroke casting an actress who is best known for playing a kind of modern day Elsie Tanner. Seems such a shame her going back to EE, when you realise that she's really moved on from the role of Kat.
I just watched it and thought it was brilliant. I thought the casting was inspired, with Celia Imrie, Jessie Wallace and especially Linda Baron lighting up the screen when they appeared.
The idea of a returning series with these actors doing a "behind the scenes" of the first 13 episodes could just work - but who would show it? ITV would be its natural home, of course, but so should this have been!
Big thanks to all involved - wonderful stuff!
K
As I said before I loved it, but watching it again, there is an irony about all the screaming about only wanting genuine northern actors, and then up pops Jessie Wallace to play Pat Phoenix.
The casting director (June West) is the same person that casts for the current corrie - all the cast worked perfectly - Just a bit of a shame we didn't see more of Lynda Baron as Ena.
