Ahh Initial D. How long it's been since I've seen you.
The dub is pretty good so far, but that doesn't say much considering anything is better than the horrible Tokyopop dub. At least they're moving in the right direction with keeping true to the original music.
Sooooooo like, uh did they keep the orignal Eurobeat soundtrack? Like Dave Rodgers or something like that?
It would really help if I had a clue what was going on. The OP is pretty sweet though.
Yes, they've kept the original soundtrack.
Also, I'm not sure if Funimation's secured the rights to dub Stages 1-3, since Tokyopop never did Stage 4. I'm still baffled as to how bad it was, despite having some pretty good VA's in the cast.
I've seen bits and pieces of the Tokyopop dub, it doesn't suck but the main problem is the poor script. The directing and acting's fine, but the lines are completely inane.
I also have a problem with the character designs. Frankly, they SUCK. They're so rigid and robotic-looking, and they clearly skimped on the 2D animation here so that doesn't help. The voice actors are clearly struggling to evoke emotion out of characters who aren't expressing much if any.
