due to a problem with their domain registration company, t.ru is now being redirected to rutracker.org, news on the main page suggests for users to change their announce strings in torrents or redownload them and to logon to a new domain. they have no idea at the moment if problems with t.ru name will be resolved..
ps if domain has been suspended, how did they managed to do a redirect?
good to know!
I know, I was just giving another tip that can help with this and other DNS issues trackers may have in the future.
Not a big deal. Domain name is replaced all over the site (even in posts).
Thanks for the tip-off. Torrents.ru is one of the sites that load along Opera when I turn my PC on, but I hadn't noticed the new name until now. I guess the old one will live on in their logo
There's a brief tidbit here on what happened:
http://torrentfreak.com/huge-russian...pended-100218/
RU-Center, Russia’s largest domain name registrar and web-hosting provider, today pulled the plug on the Torrents.ru domain name, suspending it with immediate effect.
And a youtube video, albeit in Russian:Andrey Vorobiev, Director of Public Relations at RU-Center said that the domain was blocked on the orders of the Investigative Division of the regional prosecutor’s office in Chertanovskaya, Moscow, but could not disclose the reasons.
In the meantime, the operators of Torrents.ru have been working on some counter-measures to mitigate the effects of the suspension.
