Ancient Greece means? Both these things were given to an olympic champion in Ancient Greece who had won the games, but I don't understand the importance of these symbols. Do they relate to one of the Gods? For example, a wreath was also given to the olympic winners and this was Nike (The Goddess of Victory's) symbol, but what is the significance of the taenia and the palm leaf? What Gods have these items as their symbol? Or is there another reason why these items were given to a victor?

If you know the answer to this question it would be a great help (and it would be great if you could give me a website that explains this). Thank you!

Shelly.
