    The Singing Ringing Tree

Does anyone else out there have memories of this freakish 50's German classic fairytale.
Of all things I've ever seen on a screen this is the one thing that freaked me out most, so much so that I sought out the video and bought it, wish I hadn't tho, the memories were where it was at with me and watching it as an adult just ruined it.

Read about it here if you want.

    The Singing Ringing Tree

There was a radio documentary about it a few months ago (Radio 4 10:30 on a Saturday morning) with various people telling how it had influenced or scared them. I think it was made by the East Germans, so there may have been a hidden political agenda.

I've never seen it myself, although I am well aware of it's influence (Fast Show Sketches, etc); it was really funny watching my mum try and convincing the rest of the family it exisited though - they all thought she was nuts, and let's face it, the thing is rather twisted!!

    The Singing Ringing Tree

I had vague memories of this programme so I looked it up at this site and it all came flooding back. Wasn't it scarey for a childrens programme. does any one know if it is being shown on TV again? would love to see it.

It was the bit where the Prince turned into a bear that had me hiding behind the sofa. You're right watching it again does spoil it,I always thought it was in black and white! The Tinderbox one with those dogs with big eyes was scary too.
