Ever been in the cinema on your own?

    This happened yesterday.

I had finished all my meetings and my work for the day and was going to get the train home, but I saw that 'Maria Full of Grace' was on at the local multiplex, so I saw the 1.45pm showing. I was completely on my own in a 200-odd seat cinema!

I've been to see films where there's only a few other people, but never when there's been no-one else in the place. I couldn't concentrate on the film, because I kept hearing noises and echos around the place and turning round to make sure I definitely was on my own, that there was no-one hiding under the seats or anything. I also spent 5 minutes looking at the projector and watching the film by the reflection in the glass.

I wonder what happens if no-one buys a ticket for a particular show, do they still bother putting it on?

Usually it just gets left to run through, because once the aRAB and trailers have started, there's no way of rewinding it back to the beginning in cinemas that use a platter system. But if the projectionist definitely knows that no-one's turned up after about 10 minutes of the feature starting, he'd probably turn off the xenon bulb in the projector as they're expensive to run.

But the projector would still have to run the film through so it's back at the beginning for the next show.

I was on my own, well, my friend and I were on our own when we saw Erin Brokovich.

Its the sort of thing, where initially you think its great, and then start feeling a bit odd and like you shouldnt be there!

Ever been in the cinema on your own?

Saw 'Melinda and Melinda' the other day and it started with only six people and me in. By the end three had got up and walked out, but it was a gran with two pre-teenage kiRAB.
And few years ago i saw 'Pulp Fiction' with only two and me to start and it ended with just me. One guy got up and left at the gimp scene. He had obviously got the wrong idea!

A friend and I saw Dracula (the one with Gary Oldman, Winnona Ryder and Keanu Reeves) and we were by ourselves for the whole film. Kind of spooky film, so any additional spookiness passed us by!

All the time. I prefer it; no popcorn munching, no mobile phones going off, it's great.
