    Oldies but goodies

I went to my local HMV last week and whilst there I found and bought : Labrynth and Legend.

And a few days ago there was Dragonslayer on tv. (BBC1 i think - over easter time).

It was great to see them again, and I can see the influence that they had on things like lord of the rings.

What other fanatsy- type films have there been, and do you guys and gals remember others from the 70's and 80's.

[P.S obviously didn't note it at the time but David Bowie - The tights that he wore as a costume - MY GAWD!!!!!!)

Ladyhawke, which seems to be on Sky every day, and Dark Crystal which never seems to be on anywhere.

Yeah, IRONJADE, I remember Dark Crystal - Wasn't it loosely based on the TERAHWKS tv program?.

No connection AFAIK but both using Muppets (to little effect in Terrahawks, other than saving money I suppose). Dark Crystal was a real epic but a bit too dark for its intended young audience of Jim Henson fans; it kept me mesmerised though.

Does any one know if Jim Henson's were involved in other films/tv progs. (Other than Muppets films/tv progs.

[I remember that he died and his son took over, or something like that.]

Farscape is made by Brian Henson and some of the aliens have a hint of muppet about them.
The 1986 Little Shop of Horrors also came from Henson's Creature Shop.
Jim Henson used to have strict rules against doing horror/monster/slasher movies, which is why his special effects aren't used in that many mainstream movies. The Creature Shop also contributed to a tv anthology series called The Storyteller.
Frank Oz is probably the most well-known ex-muppet person and has directed many feature films, including LSOH, a fave of mine.

    Ironjade

I knew about frank oz, because he's the guy behind yoda in starwars.

Didn't know about LSOH or Farscape.

I think I've seen some of those storyteller programs. They were based on stuff like aesops fables??.

A few years back my nephew/neices liked this program on ITV called MOPATOP'S Shop. I think its done by brian henson, or the puppets where from him.
