I am looking to buy my first car and would love to purchase a 2001 Toyota Highlander. The only problem is that my price range is between $8,000 and $9,500. I have found some Highlanders in that price range but they have about 90k miles on them...would this be a wise SUV to buy still?

You can easily drive that car for another 10 years. Take care of it, and its a great buy.

The Highlander is a great vehicle, but I don't think you are going to be able to get a good one for $9500. I bought an '02 Limited AWD with 84K for $17500 and thought I got a pretty good deal. Anything you get for $9500 is bound to be pretty thrashed, but maybe you will get lucky! How about looking at an older 4Runner?
