AFL announcement ? THE AFL is set to introduce a range of new community programs to further boost participation in Australian football across the country.

A grant of $750,000 per year for the next four years from the Federal Government has enabled the League to introduce the innovative programs that are designed to boost the current figure of 751,000 people currently playing the game.

The new programs will include the construction of a national recreational football program that will engage more multicultural groups, females, schools and older age groups, as well as the creation of new junior girls' competitions in targeted regions.

The introduction of the girls' competitions will complete a pathway from NAB Auskick through to senior women's football.
