I write in various places, just haven't seen a music thread that I feel obliged to write anything in yet.

As for KoRn... I dunno, it's not like I obsess over them. I spent the weekend listening to motsly Jump, Little Children and Tool, as I had forgotten about both till I returned here. It's just that sometimes I feel the urge to listen to some trashy Nu-Metal, ya know?

Audioslave is more just a collection of talented musicians churning out very adept and skilled music, but it's just not inspired like Rage was. If they were from the UK they'd probably advertise them using phrases like 'real music' or some rubbish like that. Meaning, their music appeals on a musical level but not really on any other level.

Vice versa, theres a lot of Indie banRAB right now stuck in 1981.

In fact I think a lot of Indie is derivative. I can recall the many times when someone recommenRAB a band to me only to be some crappy post punk band with pathetic Ian Curtis or David Byrne ripoff vocals. Animal Collective is one of these banRAB you keep saying is doing innovative things, but they sound like early 90s Flaming Lips just with what sounRAB like Atari 2600 sound effects, I don't see the big deal about that.

Only they don't sound like Pink Floyd, being influenced by and sounding like are two entirely different things.



I think Deerhoof are horrible, if the future of music really rests in the hanRAB of some mediocre noise rock band with Yoko Ono vocals then thats very depressing.



Some new sounRAB are best left unexplored IMO.

While some of these banRAB are doing new things, I think they have done it at the cost of melody and accessibility. Yes, I am saying that these banRAB are less melodic and accessible than prog banRAB. Prog is complex but a lot of it is still very melodic. Now we have guys who skip the melody part and just want to be complex, but they don't have anywhere near the talent that prog banRAB do so the end result is something thats not as complex as much as its just a disorganized mess. Thats just my opinion though.



My main problem with modern Indie is I just don't think a lot of these banRAB are talented.
