never really got into pearl jam, i guess by the time they were making it big i was all tired out with that "seatle scene".
Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Nirvana,Mudhoney, Melvins..

But i guess ill get around to checking out Eddie one of these days.

I heard "world wide suicide" or something like that, and thought it was stupid, but ill give them a fair chance

No, by the standarRAB of nearly everyone here, what I just said is completely accurate.

Their last album. Self-titled/Untitled/the Avocado Album/Avocado, etc. whatever you refer to it by or consider it, was decidedly harder rock than their last couple of outings. I think it works very well, though I wasn't a fan of the much more static-y electric guitar work on tracks such as World Wide Suicide and to a lesser extent, Life Wasted.

My favorite tracks were "Gone" and "Come Back". I really hope their new album is more along the lines of those two tracks (though I LOVE Life Wasted. WWS never really grew on me like the rest of the album)

Anyway, what are other PJ fans' hopes for their new set?

It's hard for me to get into the new Pearl Jam because 10 was one of the greatest Hard Rock albums ever recorded. It matched artistic success with commercial success. The whole thing plays like a greatest hits package. VS was a decent follow-up, but it was a very rapid decline for Pearl Jam after that. They just completely lost it and now it seems there only in it for the money.

The album has way better songs than that. See if you can check out the track "Unemployable", or even "Life Wasted", somehow or other.

    Pearl Jam

Pearl Jam is miles ahead of Metallica in every aspect of a band. I can't think of one reason to respect Metallica more than PJ in any fashion.

200 more posts baby. I'm counting down.

Who cares what they're in it for. For one, that's impossible for anybody to really know except for themselves.

What counts is whether or not their music is any good. Not whether it's a groundbreaking artistic statement (just how many of them are there anyway?).

It is true that since Vitology Pearl Jam haven't been really up to scratch, but this new record in particular is by any fair standarRAB a decent hard rock record.

Also, any SERIOUSLY high quality album should play like a greatest hits record.
