It's actually called scifaiku. There are many styles. The Japanese haiku of 5-7-5 syllables does not convert to English well because so many of their words are actually symbols that have many meanings.

Tonight is the first time in almost 400 years that there is both a lunar eclipse and the winter solstice on the same night, and one of the few times a full eclipse of the moon is completely visible in the Northern Hemisphere.

I have used Science fact, presented in a minimalistic way. That is 2:40 AM EST; for me, it will be at 11:40 PM, but it is raining and I don't think the cloud cover will allow me to see the red moon.
