Ray Penber will be Ray Penber.
Ray Penber will be Ray Penber.
This would definitely work as a DVD blooper. (Like the Mafuba Dance)

Apparently a US version of the script is on the way.
Like what, exactly?
Besides Light's motivation and the lack of Ryuk (*though there is a Shinigami reference) you still have the cat-and-mouse rivalry between Luke and L, the Death Note still has the same wacky rules, mass murder is committed by the hanRAB of a bright lovable college student, Luke is still the son of the local police authority, Luke considers himself a godlike entity on killing criminals, L is considered dangerous with his brand of justice, Lind L. Tailor is still there, Wateri is still the middle-man between L and the police, relinquishing the Death Note erases memories, hilarious potato chips still factor into play... Etc.
It's a first draft. First drafts get extensive restructuring all the time. They could change the good stuff. They could change the bad stuff. Who knows! It's impossible to judge at this stage.
However, I do hope they keep Luke saving that one person's life. It's a Crime and Punishment reference (the director of the Japanese films cited C&P as an inspiration for his version too).
I think it's the sort of thing he could do to get street cred and show off any real acting skills he might have.
Alright, let's keep this family friendly, shall we?
I will admit there's a possibility that this film might not be all that bad. I'm just....not one for seeing manga/anime redone as Western takes, that's all.
And yes, they SHOULD, if this HAS to be done, get a good actor, with the "least suspect" angle. But if they want a good Light, they should probably look for a relatively unknown.
How much you wanna bet Light gets turned into some angst teen loser who uses the Death Note to get revenge on his Highschool tormentors, and that Ryuk is changed into the Devil.
that was a joke
actualy i have high hopes for this movie.
That jokes not funny....
Speaking of which, I dunno bout y'all, but I think James Franco would be pretty good as Raye Penber.
Anyone got ideas for:
Soichiro
Sachiko
Misa?
I think Michael Caine would be a good Watari.
