    "Swollen bone"??

    Hi there

About 12 months ago I injured my shoulder in a soccer match nd aggravated it weight training (I think)
I have been seeing a succession of doctors and was finally referred to a specialist after my physio identified some bone growth.
After months of waiting for an appointment I finally see a specialist today who says he's 'shocked' that I was referred to him, as I have a swollen bone in my shoulder and I need to have a biopsy.
I am now crapping myself - is this a tumour?
Does anyone out there have any experience of this problem please?

    "Swollen bone"??

Most bone tumors and cysts are benign.

There are tons of different types of bone cysts and tumors, some occuring after injury. Osteochondroma is the most common benign bone tumor, they're usually found in the shoulder or knee.

A biopsy is done to rule out the rare chance it could be cancer.
