    My opinion is they ARE for the best, they had a great impact on human beings such as; we can work from home on a laptop or computer, if we need to call anybody our cell, or phone is right in hand, we have t.v for enjoyment and teachers can show enjoyable, educational movies for their classes. Technology is truly for the best!

    It depends how you look at it. For example, with composing music, we no longer have to write painstakingly long scores by hand- we can do it with a computer instead. In some ways technology has made life better and worse. It has also made life better through everyday objects, from computers/laptops to microwaves. yet it has also affected our lives for the worse too. Look at modern warfare- carpet bombing, nuclear warheads etc. They are more on the bad side, especially nukes.

    In spite of several advancement in technology, space research, nuclear research, medicine, Information Technology, etc. and in spite of creating thousand of means to increase the happiness of people in this world, there is no great impact. People still remain more unhappy than what the situation was about a century ago.

    So I do not think any of our modern researches or increase in the production of essential commodities can contribute to man's upliftment. I feel only a transformation of mind-set, life-style and introduction physical self-discipline and maintaining social orderliness, can bring some betterment to present day ills.

    It has changed the way we talk and meet people.. Soon enough people will spend most of their time indoors.. 60% of people watch tv on their spare time and 40% are playing games or on a social network (facebook)

    The paradox of our time in history is that:

    We have taller buildings, but shorter tempers;
    Wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints.
    We spend more, but have less;
    We buy more, but enjoy it less.
    We have bigger houses, and smaller families;
    More conveniences, but less time.
    We have more degrees, but less sense;
    More knowledge, but less judgement;
    More experts, but more problems;
    More medicine, but less wellness.

    We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values.
    We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.
    We’ve learned how to make a living, but not a life.
    We’ve added years to life, not life to years.
    we’ve been all the way to the moon and back,
    But have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbour.
    We’ve conquered outer paces, but not inner space;
    We’ve cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul;
    We’ve split the atom, but not our prejudice;
    We have higher incomes, but lower morals;
    We’ve become long on quantity, but short on quality.

    These are the times of tall men, and short character;
    Steep profits, and shallow relationships.
    These are the times of world peace, but domestic warfare;
    More leisure, but less fun;
    More kinds of food, but less nutrition;
    These are the days of two incomes, but more divorce;
    Of fancier houses, but broken homes.
    It is a time where there is much in the show window
    And nothing in the stockroom;
    A time when technology can bring this letter to you,
    And a time when you can choose either to make a difference

    ..... or just ignore.

    i think it has changed us for the worst. ofcourse, i like it and im in no place to talk since im using it right now. but its over all effect has been negative. some people use technology to say important things that they otherwise would have said in person and they are losing their social skills. also, it takes a lot of energy and materials to make the technology we use, which is bad for the environment. not to mention some of the uses that technology has been put to, like war machines and missiles that can wipe out thousands.
