If you haven't played Z:OOT and Z:MM, then you might as well buy a used GC controller and mem card and pay $40 for the used GC game that has both. Then you'll get to play 3 Zelda games. Supposedly the N64 cartridges played better, although the GC versions are a little easier in certain places, albeit with some sound glitches.
$250 - Wii
$50 - Z:TP
$15 - used Nintendo GC controller
$10 - mem card
$40 - The Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition
--------
$365
$22 - tax (6%)
--------
$387
The Wii is very much so worth the money... eventually you'll be able to have a plethura of N64 and SNES favorites, not to mention older favorites from other systems. Combine that with the favorites from the GC library...and then add on Wii games, and I would say yes... the Wii is very much so worth it for purchase.
Zelda wasn't worth the $50 IMO I heard it plays better on Gamecube. If that's the only game you care about, get it for that and save some money.
You can get cheap ass controllers on ebay(I did and they work fine, came with 2 controllers, 2 extension cords, 2 4mb memory cards for 25 shipped), then just buy used gamecube games like zelda wind waker, smash bros, Twin snakes, metroid. No reason to buy the collectors zelda disc since it'll all eventually be on VC. Plus if he goes to circuit city theres that $40 off coupon so that helps also.
I'm about to go try and get one.
I wouldn't be getting any vc games because I don't feel the need to pay 5-10 bucks for a 7 year old game that has had no changed made whatsoever that I have on emulators or the original games already.
My Best Buy had them last night, I was in there looking for a game and they had 10 Wii's sitting out and some stock boy had a few boxes next to him, probably more in there.
yeah you say that now.
Wow, when you guys get a shipment of Wii's you actually get a shipment.
Here when a store gets them in, they get like 3-5.
