Toon Zone Talkback - BBC Names Betty Boop, Wonder Woman, and Jessica Rabbit as Top 'Toon Female Icons

This is the talkback thread for BBC Names Betty Boop, Wonder Woman, and Jessica Rabbit as Top 'Toon Female Icons.

If anyone's interested, I listened to the radio programme this article's tying into. All of the listed characters were discussed aside from Fiona (although Jessica and Lara were only mentioned pretty briefly), along with the St. Trinians girls, Tiffany Jones, Halo Jones, Judge Anderson, the 90s Disney heroines, Love and Rockets and Posy Simmonds's work.

I'm assuming the BBC were mostly focusing on adult female icons, because how else do Little Lulu and the Powerpuff Girls not make the list?

Isn't it a bit odd to be combating "gender stereotypes" with sex symbols? Seems like we're just trading one for the other.

Well, the Powerpuff Girls were briefly mentioned in the radio show, which opened with various women being interviewed on which female cartoon character they'd like to be, and one picked a PPG. Little Lulu, though... I dunno, is she that important? You could make a case for Lisa Simpson, though.
