He went from CEO to Chairman. If he's anything like our Chairmen, he has 90% of the decision making power and 10% of the time commitment. Probably different at every company, but I bet Apple'll be fine.
No, his statement, which I only caught part of, said he had always said he would resign when he found himself unable to do the job, "and today that day has come".
The chairman job can also be honorary, and probably is in this case. This has to be his health, and probably is very bad.
He just won't be micromanaging. Jobs is not the kind to relinquish creative control entirely. He is ultra-alpha regardless.
