This is a poem I wrote for my poetry class that terribly confused me! I had to sit and think forever and look at so many examples before I attempted this! I know that the meter is not correct (I'm terrible at that stuff) but I think I hit all of the other aspects of the villanelle.
Please let me know what you think. I'm open to any and all criticism and advice!

Don't Stop

Wave after wave...
Rippling along, rolling.
Don't stop, or you'll be tossed away.

Day after day,
You must keep going,
Wave after wave...

You may rock and sway,
As the winds are ever-blowing-
Don't stop or you'll be tossed away

Even if you go astray,
It will always bring you back, flowing
Wave after wave...

Through love and hate-
Though storms of life are howling;
Don't stop or you'll be tossed away.

Into love, into pain,
It never stops-ever flowing,
Wave after wave...
Don't stop or you'll be tossed away.
