I am a 20 year old male and I take medicine for POTS. My doctor had told me at my last appointment that I will be able to stop taking one of my meds soon. The medicine is called Midodrine and initially I was taking 5mg twice daily. After awhile I was stepped down to 5mg in the morning and the second dose only if I needed it. This medicine is to treat low blood pressure and has a half life of 3-4 hours. I'm assuming that since it is a medicine that isn't built up in the system but is used for an instant effect that only lasts a few hours that it wouldn't be harmful to stop taking it. I'm asking this because I ran out earlier today and my prescription needs doctors approval and I won't get an answer until Monday at the earliest. I figure now would be a good a time as any to stop taking it, I just don't want any ill effects. Any insight is appreciated, thank you.
