I want to get the Huawei Ascend, but...

I have a question first. I live in Dallas, TX and I wanted to know if I would get decent service with Cricket in Dallas. Now, I know that I could get the Ascend on MetroPCS, but I got problems with 2 things:

1) The Ascend is higher priced ($179.99)
2) MetroPCS doesn't have 3G, so I'd be stuck on 1x

I did a check on the coverage for Cricket in Dallas and it looks okay. Obviously, call and text is fine, but it says that it would use a partner provider for the data.

First off, will I even get some sort of 3G in Dallas? If so, will it be noticeably fast than Metro's 1x?

I was looking to buy the phone online (great price at $109!!). If I don't, I'm going down to the Houston area this week and would like to pick one up. Granted it works...

Thanks for the reply. I read a little more into it. It looks like it would probably be a mashup of MetroPCS and Sprint (I'm guessing). I also looked at the fine print on Cricket's site. It says something like excessive use outside Cricket's areas could lead to service termination.

Looks like I'm probably stuck with MetroPCS.

I ended up getting the MetroPCS version. I paid a little more, but I'm pretty satisfied with the phone! I've already rooted it and got rid of all the crap they put on there. Awesome stuff!
