When I purchased my home the property disclosure listed the home's real estate tax at $975 per year. This year I received my statement and it went up to $1650 per year. When checking why there was such a big increase I was told the previous owner had a reduction due to disability. On the seller's document at closing he checked no on the seller's statement that he was not receiving a reduction on property tax due to disiblility. Isn't a seller's document supposedly a legal document? Is it worth going through the process of suing through small claims court? Or, am I supposed to check on every item on a seller's document before buying?
