I need a cheap, reliable and economical car. The commute is approx. 400 mile weekly. Both cars are cheap to buy and maintain. Both have indestructible engines. The Suzuki Forsa is a economy car from the eighties, that believe it or not is very popular where I live. I'm guessing these cars have 200,000- 300,000 mile on them which shows there longevity. This same engine was carried over to the Swift. The Volvo 240 is known to do 400,000 - 900,000 miles. The Swift has the upper hand on economy averaging about 40 mpg. The 240 averages about 25 mpg. The Swift's monthly gas consumption would be $160 on the other hand the Volvo would be $256. So the swift would save me $1,200 a year on gas alone. The Volvo has the upper hand on comfort and safety which are enticing factors. I'm split 55/45 on my decision, favoring the 240 because of the comfort and safety. If you own one of these cars I would appreciate your input.
For got to mention that I'm talking about a Suzuki Swift 1995 - 2001 or the Volvo 240 both are around the $2,000 range. I don't want to get into a new car right now.
