A guy came through the neighborhood today looking to sign up new U Verse customers. We have Comcast. U Verse has some cool advantages over Comcast, no doubt - and when he said that the internet speeds were "awesome," I had to buy in.

Now I'm looking at the "wireless status" window on my computer - it SAYS my internet speed is anywhere from 36 to 54 Mbps. (Currently, that is, with my existing Comcast connection.) The info he gave me says that U Verse will be an astounding "up to" 18 Mbps "downstream" speed.

So am I going backwards in my internet speed here? Should I cancel this whole thing? Internet is a lot of what I do...
ok, So I did the Speed test thing...and although my computer tells me my speed is between 36 to 54, speedtest.net told me my download speed was 8.87 Mbps, upload speed 2.26 Mbps. ??? Why is my wireless monitor telling me 36 or 54? Does this mean that the promised 18Mbps from U Verse is better???
